About Atira AI
We built Atira because procurement teams were losing money from contracts they couldn't re-read.
Atira AI was founded in Manchester in 2024 by a team that spent years in procurement and commercial operations watching the same problem repeat: important clauses buried in long supplier contracts, nobody catching them until it was too late.
Our story
The problem we saw every week.
Mid-market businesses routinely miss supplier contract clauses that cost them — not because they're careless, but because re-reading 80-page PDF contracts every renewal cycle is unrealistic with a 3-person procurement team. A logistics contract auto-renews at a 4.5% price increase. A rebate trigger on a manufacturing supply agreement goes unclaimed for 18 months. A 90-day termination notice clause means the team is locked into a relationship they've been trying to exit for a year. These aren't edge cases. They're the norm.
Existing tools were designed for Fortune 500 legal departments with dedicated contract managers. Full CLM platforms — Ironclad, ContractPodAi, Icertis — are built around contract creation, version control, and approval workflows. That's not the problem mid-market procurement has. Their problem is simpler and more expensive: nobody is reading the contracts they've already signed. Atira is not a CLM. It does not help you draft, redline, or execute contracts. It reads the contracts your suppliers gave you and tells you what to worry about before the next renewal date.
The founding team's network is in UK manufacturing, distribution, and professional services — industries where supplier contract discipline directly affects operating margins. We're based in Spinningfields, Manchester's financial and professional services district. The companies we build for are 10 minutes away. We know what a 200-person manufacturer's procurement workflow actually looks like, because we've spent time in those teams.
The team
Who built it.
Spent a decade in commercial operations at a UK Midlands manufacturing group, where he managed over 300 active supplier contracts with a two-person procurement team. He watched the same pattern repeat every quarter: a contract would auto-renew at an inflated price, a rebate trigger would lapse unclaimed, or a termination notice window would close without anyone noticing. Built Atira in 2024 to solve the problem he couldn't fix with spreadsheets.
Previously ran product at a UK supplier management software company serving distribution and logistics buyers. Spent three years in user research with procurement teams at mid-market firms before joining Atira. Her rule: if a Head of Procurement wouldn't open it on a Monday morning, it doesn't ship.
Built his career writing NLP pipelines for document-heavy workflows — starting with contract abstraction tools for UK professional services firms, then moving into structured extraction for legal-tech. Atira's clause detection engine is his work. He cares obsessively about one number: how many flags your team can trust without reading the source clause.
What we believe
Three convictions that drive everything we build.
"Procurement teams are commercial intelligence assets, not cost centres."
"Contract risk should be findable in minutes, not after a quarterly legal review."
"The best CLM tool is the one your procurement director actually opens."
